PATRIOT PAWS-DOGS FOR VETERANS

PATRIOT PAWS FOR VETERANS or click on http://www.patriotpawsservicedogs.org

Note from Charmaine: I just learned of this organization helping disabled veterans to train dogs for service.

I am a Viet Nam Era vetera veteran myself- 1967-1970, un-injured, and free to use my GI Bill, to get a complete college education, and start a business like "Dirtcheapbuilder".

I want to support the efforts of this woman and her crew, and the many Veterans too. As a dog owner of rescued dogs, I know the joy animal companions can give just by being there, the invaluable work they do for these injured Veterans is a blessing and a start to a fulfilling life again.

The Vets are 90% disabled, in many cases, and the simple act of opening a door, pulling open a sliding door, a drawer, the refigerator helps these mn and omen deal with the gain of strength, and the depression that comes with so serious an injury.

I will donate profit from ALL sales from the Animal care books here to the organization. Your purchase will go to helping them continue their work.
Something to give you PAWS…

Patriot PAWS Service Dogs are living proof that dogs are man’s and woman’s best friend.

Specially trained to provide love and invaluable help to people with disabilities, these dogs help paralyzed veterans regain some of the physical and emotional freedoms that were lost along with the freedom to get out of a wheelchair.

Patriot PAWS Services Dogs, specially trained to help disabled veterans, are able to: * Get help in emergencies * Pick up and retrieve items * Open and close doors and cabinets * Pull wheelchairs * Provide bracing to stand, walk, and sit down * Help with chores, such as laundry

According to founder and trainer Lori Stevens, it takes a full year or more to train a dog, and expenses can run as high as $20,000.

Patriot PAWS Service Dogs is a non-profit organization.

Patriot PAWS Service Dogs is a non-profit organization that trains and provides service dogs for disabled United States Veterans and others with mobile disabilities.

Our award-winning trainer and founder, Lori Stevens, has over 15 years of experience working with service dogs. With her No. 1 canine partner, Beau, Lori has been seen from coast-to-coast, appearing with Beau on such television programs as “The Late Show” with David Letterman and Animal Planet's “Pet Star.”

In February of 2005, a group of disabled veterans from the Dallas VA Hospital asked Lori Stevens to assist them in training their own service dogs. This is where Lori learned about the plight of disabled veterans in need of service dogs.

In February of 2006, Patriot PAWS Service Dogs was established and now holds provisional membership in Assistance Dogs International (ADI).

The objective at Patriot PAWS Service Dogs is to restore many of the physical and emotional freedoms which have been compromised due to someone's physical disabilities. We are committed to working together with the service dog owners and their dogs as they learn to work as a team, thus increasing self-sufficiency.
It takes 12 to 18 months to properly train just one service dog. The cost of the care and training for that one service dog during these months is approximately $20,000. Patriot PAWS Service Dogs is committed to providing service dogs of the highest quality at minimum cost to the disabled person.
