FREE INFO-Painting ART on OSB

At a multi million dollar estate, for sale, in San Mateo CA the outdoor garden area has two of these OSB art pieces.

OSB ( Oriented Strand Board) is a particle board made by heat pressing of wood chips and glue, in directional layers, for strength.

It will get wet and never dry back out, especially if exposed to the elements as it is here; it must be sealed when using it for home building, but I have never seen OSB sheets used before like this.

From a distance they look very expensive. The effect is serene, with a painted stork, Japanese style, on each piece of long narrow OSB. The OSB was not sealed as far as I can tell, and the top edge will expand and degrade over time.

If you painted with oils or acrylics I would still recommend to do a protective coat with a clear sealer on top, or at least heavy wax coat (using a paste floor wax) to keep moisture from ruining the fiber of the OSB.

So if you have any scraps lying about..consider painting an art project of your own.
