Fighter Jets: Paper Airplanes That Really Fly!

Fighter Jets: Paper Airplanes That Really Fly!

Most of the fifteen paper models in this volume are realistic depictions of highperformance jets, including the Lockheed F-117 Nighthawk stealth fighter, the double-delta Saab Draken, and the Avro CF-105 Arrow.

Here too are early jets like the P-80 and the Me-262, as well as the Northrop B-49 flying wing bomber, and five models modified from real jet fighters for better building or flying characteristics. Paper airplane designer Andrew Dewar insists he is really a librarian, though he is known as the paper airplane man both in his native Canada and in Japan, where he moved to pursue doctoral studies in library science.

(The fact that the best paper airplane models are made in Japan may have had something to do with it, too, he admits.) Each of Dewar's volumes of pre-colored, die-cut airplane models is a collection of beautifully engineered little flyers, based on real aircraft. Not traditional fold-and-fly paper planes, these have dimensional fuselages and engine nacelles—they require gluing and some care in construction, but reward the builder with authentic, flyable paper models.

Dewar also offers substantive lessons in aviation history and practical flying lessons for your miniature masterpieces.
