Classic Railroad Advertising: Riding the Rails Again

Classic Railroad Advertising: Riding the Rails Again

Note from Charmaine: I grew up loving the posters of the sleek ultra modern train, with its gleaming beacon and promise of being wisked away to adventure. This book captures that!

Description
From the 1920s through the 50s, American magazines like National Geographic, Life, Saturday Evening Post, and Collier's featured beautiful and creative advertising extolling the virtues of taking the train.

Nearly every page of this nostalgic trip through the golden age of rail travel in the U.S. consists of a large, full-page advertisement for a specific train, a railroad, or a locomotive manufacturer, reproduced in its original color or halftone printing and intelligently captioned by Auto Album columnist and transportation author Tad Burness.

Here are ads for the Super Chief, 20th Century Limited, California Zephyr, Empire Builder, and Broadway Limited.
