Looking to buy or sell land in the West?
Sprawling homes consuming open space.

More three million acres in Montana have been subdivided into small parcels over the past 25 years. Most of the parcels were ranches, which provided habitat for wildlife, especially during harsh winter months. Now that hayfields are filling up with houses, wildlife are looking for new homes, and human/wildlife conflicts are increasing. What can you do to make a difference? Go to the Western Sustainability Exchange and download their Welcome to the West guide.

Living Homes: Stone Masonry, Log, and Strawbale Construction

Dear Mr Elpel,
I have now received and had time to properly read your book (and watch your two DVDs). I am most impressed with the level of detail you go into. It's extremely helpful, and explains the concepts very well. My best friend Michael and I are planning to start building our house about a year from now. I'm currently studying for my builder's license, and Michael is a carpenter.

I guess I'm not writing to ask anything, but just to say thanks for explaining the concepts so thoroughly! If you were interested, we could send you photos of the project when we get started (thought as I said, that might be some time from now). Of course you may already have lots of people sending you photos, so that may not be desirable, but still :) I thought I'd offer.

Yours sincerely,

Eleanor Young

Photos are always appreciated. Thank you!
